They will go for more than they are out now, 14 bidders.
How much they cost new?
Not sure if you can buy them new anymore. They're quite an old set. How much you looking to pay?
Not too much, maybe around £100 which will mean used clubs i guess.
Might go shops tomorrow and have a look around.
Also, another question cos i have no idea. I bought a crappy 8 iron to go top golf, seems a bit too short for me, are all 8 irons the same length?
All depends on how tall you are. All clubs have a standard length, but if you're say 6ft2 + You might need an inch or two added to the club.
Wouldn't worry about that for now though.
I am about 6ft, still hitting it alright with the 8 iron, so guess ill get on with it!

Also TBOK, if you're only just starting to play, get yourself a half set.
Should have three woods/ two wedges/ 3,5,7,9 irons and a putter. Its all the clubs you'll need and it'll be the best part of £100 cheaper.
then if you feel like you need to you can add the other clubs later.
What? That's hideous advice. The best thing he can do is get a full set of irons 4 - SW if possible, and worry about the woods when he gets good enough. That's the biggest issue with amatuer golfers, trying to gun the ball absolutely miles all the time.

Yeah, perfect to start out with. If you progress though, you'll rapidly outgrow them.

Well for 1 they are steel shafts and after playing with them you may realise you want to go for a lighter option such as graphite or titanium shafts, not to mention you may want bigger woods or a driver.

You wouldnt. The vast majority of people will suit that sort of set for years.
I'm guessing its gonna be an occasional weekend round rather than a desperate sprint to chase down your handicap.

Yep, Might only end up going once a month or so to an actual course. Which is why i don't wanna pay top dollar.

yeah but the vast majority of amateur golfers just want to have good fun. I can knock round a course in about 90 if i leave the driver in the bag but where's the fun in that? I'd much rather go out, get the big dog out the bag whenever possible, hit some trees and finish on about 100.
but thats just me, maybe you and TBOK are more competitive and would rather do whatever to get the best possible score.

To be fair, I did say IF you progress.
Golfers generally tend to improve dramatically in the first 2 years of playing. After that it takes a bit more commitment to improve.

Morning clunges.
What's occurring?
On the golf theme, when I used to play (a few years back now), I never used a wood on a course. Just didn't have the accuracy off the drive. So I only ever used to take a full set of irons round, including a chipping putter, because I was so shit at chipping from about 10 metres away from the freen.

all about the 7 iron from that distance.
I can get closer with a 7 iron from 15/20 yards than i can with a putter from about a 20ft putt.
