Hi, I'm Dave Pundit.

I played almost 6 games for Liverpool and one of those was in the League Cup. I have to say I never cared much for the League Cup. I mean let's face it you're either a league or a cup, you can't be both. Of course now the League Cup is called the Carling Cup. Which is great because even when the games are filled with boring, long drawn out periods of passing and excellent football you can at least focus on the beer.

This year's final though could go either way. We could see Arsenal's passing and fluid gameplay dominate or we could see Birmingham get in their faces or even better into their kneecaps.

The idea that Arsenal might actually lift a trophy this season has me literally turning in my grave, Glenn. They've never treated the competition seriously and I expect they'll just put out a whole bunch of foreign kids as normal. People talk about they're youth academy but I don't think it's all that great, at least Birmingham have a few good young home-grown players on their books, like David Bentley and Seb Larsson, I can't see Arsenal ever producing players of that calibre.

As with a lot of cup finals it'll all be down to how the manager prepares his team. And I predict they'll both prepare them in their own image. Wenger will prepare his Frenchy frogs to be a bunch of surrender monkeys whereas Alex McLeish will instill his army with good old fashioned English grit.

I can only hope we see a good fair final, where Birmingham's leg breaking challenges aren't given ridiculous red cards and Arsenal's diving cheats don't get to many free kicks. If that happens it'll be an absolute rip-snorter of a game. 0-0 after extra time, Birmingham to win on penalties.

Anyway, I've got to go. I've challenged Nat Lofthouse to a fight.
