Complete bollocks. Not in my opinion,t after the first album, songs were morepoppy, they shaved their beards off all to sell more records, imagine that wanting to make more money

Not a huge fans of artists who change their "roots" for dollar signs. Almost like eminems new stuff, although not a huge fan he's changed to a more mainstream sound

| This 'sell out' business is utter bollocks. If your music is good enough in the first place then you don't need to adapt it to sell records.
It ends up going the other way, where successful bands experiement with new styles off their own backs once they've made it. The best bands didn't have to 'sell out'

The best bands didn't have to 'sell out' KOL were not a mainstream band before they adjusted their style. Same as System of a Down, used to be political band but moved onto more pop orientated stuff to sell records.

So all artists should do exactly the same albums every single time? What about trying something new, taking a risk? Im not saying that, they should at least retain a part of what brought them into the light instead of getting rid of everything

My point being, that it doesn't matter whether your music is mainstream or not, word of mouth is a wonderful thing, if it's good enough, it'll ship records. Are the Arctic Monkeys mainstream? Are they fuck. Their first album wasn't, and their most recent is probably less 'mainstream' than their first.
